Planning a wedding can be a stressful endeavour. You need to decide on colour schemes, your bridesmaids/grooms, find a venue and order a cake. And that’s not all, you also need to organise some entertainment for your guests, book your caterer and so much more.

One of the biggest things that can be overlooked when planning your wedding is how to keep the kids happy. Chances are that your friends and family are bringing children to your big day, which is why we’ve compiled a list of some amazing ways to keep occupied during the day and throughout the evening. From wedding welcome bags to bouncy castles, find the perfect way to keep the kids entertained below.

Create a Lego Challenge

One way to keep young children busy is to task them with a challenge. Why not place bowls of lego on tables with children and ask them to create their best monster/car/character? Let their creativity flow while the adults sip on champers. You never know, you might find a few adults join in as well.

No Adult Allowed Kids Section

One way to make your child feel involved in your wedding day is to give them their own area. A lot of the time, kids just want to wander off on their own and play to their heart’s content. Creating a kids-only zone with fun games and toys could be the perfect place for them to turn to when they want to get away from the day’s adult activities. One idea for this is to create a kids-only teepee (if your wedding is outdoors). Fill it with fairy lights and let the magic take its course.

Children’s Gift Bags

Wedding Activity Sheets

Who doesn’t love a gift bag? When it comes to making gift bags for children, you can fill them with sweet treats, kids activity packs, bubbles, games and so much more. Creating a wedding activity pack is a great idea for keeping the kids entertained throughout the day, and makes them feel included in the day’s activities. You can download your free Keeko Kids wedding activity sheets here and get started on your gift bags asap!

Outdoor Games

Think old school ring toss, a coconut shy, giant chess and so much more. This is very much something that the adults can get stuck into as well, making it ideal for all of your guests!

Kid-Friendly Screening

If you’re having an outdoor wedding, why not host a kid-friendly screening with old school classic Disney films? Create a comfy seated zone and let them settle down for an hour or two of magical fun.

Children’s Dancefloor Hour

Dancing at a wedding is one of the key ingredients to having a great time (especially after a few cocktails). For a lot of younger children, they may not know some of the songs in your playlist. One way to give them their time to shine on the dancefloor is to give them their own disco hour. Play popular songs for younger children and hire an entertainer to keep them happy.

Bouncy Castle Madness

Perfect for adults and children alike, bouncy castles can bring hours of fun. Tire out your little guests with a themed bouncy castle. If your wedding is outside, this is a great addition to the festivities!

Disposable Camera Fun

Children's Wedding Entertainment

Disposable cameras can cost as little as £5 and can produce some amazing images from behind the scenes of your wedding. Why not incorporate your wedding activities for children in your wedding photography? You can enlist the children at your wedding and give them a checklist of images to capture. For example, ask them to take an image of the bride walking down the aisle, an image of the wedding cake, first dance etc. You might be surprised at how great the images turn out!

We’re excited to announce that we have relocated to larger premises on the Tarran Industrial Estate, Moreton. The move has taken place to allow us to merge with our sister company and crayon manufacturer Stadium Crayons Ltd. To give you a brief history of our relationship with our sister company, Keeko Kids was founded in 1998 and has been supplying the hospitality industry with kids activity packs, colouring boards and crayons for over 20 years. Stadium Crayons Ltd was acquired by Keeko Kids in 2009, so that Stadium could continue to produce and supply British-made crayons to our customers all over the UK! Over the past 10 years, the two companies have worked in collaboration from two different sites, with the Keeko office being based on the Wirral and the Stadium Crayons factory being based in Southampton.

This year, the decision was made to move premises and consolidate the two companies, so that our head office and crayon production site are under one roof. The aim of the move is to improve the service we provide to our customers and to accommodate future growth. By working side-by-side with production we also hope to expand our product range of kids activity packs and crayons, so we can offer more diversity within our range to suit a variety of different customers.

We’re proud to be one of only a few remaining crayon manufacturers in the UK. Pictured below is Owner and Managing Director, Sarah Jane Chinnaraja, holding one of the first kids colouring crayons to be manufactured on the Wirral!

Keeko First Crayon

‘This is a really exciting step for our business, we are proud to bring our crayon production ‘home’ to the Wirral and look forward to continuing to grow and develop the company.’

Sarah Jane Chinnaraja, Owner and Managing Director

We look forward to working with you from our new home!

Messy Play and Mark Making is a fun and educational, good for physical development and is a fantastic bonding activity for parents and children too! Read on to discover more about messy play, mark making, drawing and colouring!

One of the many brilliant benefits of messy play for both parents and practitioners is that messy play is very much child led. This allows children to develop their imagination and allows parents to see how their little minds tick as they play. Some babies love to just slide around in the mess, some like to use their toes, some love to use tools to make marks.

It doesn’t all have to be wet and messy though! Messy Play can also be dry and a perfect way to explore early writing opportunities.  Using trays, boards, pens and pencils to encourage straight lines, curves, circles and zigzags which help letter formations.

Mark making is a huge part of your child’s learning journey and one of the outcomes of a prime area of learning – Physical Development – in Early Years Foundation Stage Guidance (birth to 60 months).  When your child starts to make scribbles, patterns and shapes, this is ‘mark making’. It is the first step towards writing! Your child explores, experiments and expresses themselves through the marks they make. They begin to assign meaning to their marks, which leads to creativity and exploration.

Messy Play Ideas

Exploring different textures, materials and grabbing various apparatus will help your child get ready for writing. Encouraging your child to use their hands, fingers, feet and toes to make marks will strengthen their core muscles and develop their gross and fine motor skills. These skills are vital for holding and controlling a pencil and letter and number formation.  All of this can be done during messy play in a fun, exciting and stimulating way! A favourite way to mark make with all children young and old is colouring! There are so many different tools to colour with – felt tips, crayons, pencil crayons, chalks. Having creative and imaginative detailed pictures to colour works their fine motor skills and imagination all at the same time.

Repetition is important in mark making and the more the mark is practised, the more recognisable the mark will become to the child. The mark making opportunities are appropriate for every type of learner. The way we learn best can be auditory, visual, or kinaesthetic.

Messy play develops and appeals to all of the senses. It is inclusive and accessible to all children, even those with disabilities or sensory issues. As it is child led and there is such a wide selection of wet and dry trays children can choose a ‘messy’ level they are comfortable with. It is all a personal choice and can be enjoyed in many ways. Why not try some messy play at home? Or if you’d rather leave the tidying up to someone else, check out a Little Learners class in your area >>> http://www.littlelearnersuk.com

Travelling with children requires plenty of planning and lots of patience, and with that planning comes ideas to keep them entertained and busy on a long trip.

Whether you’re travelling in a car or on a plane, having things to keep children busy will make the journey enjoyable and stop everyone in the vicinity going a little stir crazy.

Buy them a new toy

This doesn’t have to be anything extravagant, but a new toy is bound to keep children happy for a while. Capture their attention with a new toy and all of the joy it brings with it.

Pack the tablet

It might not be something you want to use for the entire journey, but there’s no denying how much an iPad or any type of tablet will keep children happy and occupied. Download a film or some TV programmes on Netflix, or have a look on BBC iPlayer to see what can be downloaded onto the tablet as you won’t need Wi-Fi to watch them.

Bring activity games

Activity packs, colouring books or sheets with some pencils is a sure-fire way of keeping children entertained for a while. Plus, it’s a way of stimulating their mind too. A lot of the restaurants and cafés at service stations and airports have amazing options available that can be kept on hand to keep a child entertained on a long car or plane journey.

Read a book

Car Entertainment for Children

Depending on the age of the child, they can either read it themselves or you read it to them. If you’re on a plane and don’t want to distract too many of the other passengers it could be an option to download an audiobook and give your child some headphones to listen to it.

Have a conversation

It might sound obvious, but sitting down and having a conversation with your child may not always be an option with busy schedules. This is the perfect opportunity to stop and really catch up with them, whilst there are minimal distractions.

Teach them about the destination

If you’re heading to somewhere they’ve never been before, it could be a great opportunity to teach them a little bit about the area. Try giving them some facts about the history of the destination and talk about the places you could potentially visit.  You could even do a quiz, to get them excited about where they’re going.

Eye Spy

Eye Spy is a classic game that’s bound to provide some entertainment for a while, it also gets children interested in the scenery and the route. There are also plenty of other car games you could try such as a registration plate spotting game or a memory game, where you take it in turns to add more to a story.

Take a map

Keep Children Happy In The Car

Either download a map on your phone or print one out. It can be a great way of showing children the journey you’re taking to get to the destination. Plus, they can tick off places they go past as you’re on your way.

Bingo

If you’re travelling by car, you could create a bingo board for each child with animals or objects that you’re likely to see on your journey, and the first one who gets a line or a full house wins a prize – it could be something like they get to choose the next song that’s played or pick what you’ll eat for dinner that evening.

Card games

There are a variety of different card games on the market for children.  A classic deck of cards, memory games or snap can provide hours of entertainment for the whole family.

Snacks and food a plenty

Snacks For Children In The Car

A hungry child is not something you want to contend with in a small space, so make sure that whether you’re travelling in a car or on a plane, you have plenty of snacks, food and drink. Instead of relying on services or the food that’s available you know you’ll have something that they like and you can whip it out at a moment’s notice when it’s needed.

Buy a camera

Buying your child a camera to use whilst on holiday or giving them one you already have is a great way of keeping them happy as they try their best to get the perfect shot.  They’ll enjoy documenting their trip and you’ll be able to look back over the photos together for years to come.

Last week we were excited to see our sister company Stadium Crayons feature on the BBC2 series ‘Inside the Factory’. This well known TV series follows presenters Gregg Wallace and Cherry Healey as they explore the secrets behind production in some of the largest factories in Britain.
This latest episode of Series 4 explored the wonderful world of pencils, the materials used to make them, the science behind graphology and (the most exciting part for us) how to make wax crayons!

Our factory manager Dave Ayling showed Cherry Healey around the factory and she got stuck-into making some of our wax crayons. The episode shows the different steps that are involved in the manufacturing process of crayons. How we mix the raw ingredients such as paraffin wax, stearic acid and PEG. Then how coloured pigments are added to the mix to create the range of vibrant crayon colours you find in our Keeko crayons packs! When the wax mixture is complete we move on to our favourite bit; how the wax mixture cools and takes form using our wax crayon moulds! On just one of our crayon moulds we can produce up to 60,000 crayons per day, with our UK factory manufacturing over 25 million wax crayons last year!

And finally, our crayons wouldn’t be complete without one of our green ‘Keeko Kids’ crayon wrappers. Ready to keep children entertained for hours of colouring and fun!

Click to watch the episode now on BBC iplayer.

The post Gift Bag Ideas For Three-Year-Olds appeared first on Keeko Kids.

Planning a party requires a lot of effort, there’s a theme to consider, decorations, party games and more, and then, of course, a gift bag so every child walks away remembering what a fun time they’ve had.

Gift bags needn’t be packed with goodies for the children, but just a few small gifts can definitely elevate your party from a good one to a great one.

If you’ve got a party coming up, and are struggling for ideas of what to pack in a party bag for a three-year-old, these ideas can certainly help. We’re not suggesting you include them all, but they’ll definitely provide some ideas and might spark a suggestion of your own.

Something Sweet

You can’t really go wrong with padding out the bag with a couple of sweet treats, a pack of jellies and some chocolate buttons certainly wouldn’t go amiss. You won’t want to give out loads, especially if they’ve had plenty on offer whilst at the party too.

Colouring or Activity Books

Kids colouring sheets and activity books are a great option, as they’ll keep the kids occupied once they’ve left the party too.

Crayons

If you’re providing colouring or activity books, you could always include a small pack of crayons in each bag too, so they’ve got something to use on their new books. Or if you’re on a budget, buy a bulk box of crayons, to put out on the table or supplied loose in the activity bags.

Bubbles

Bubbles are a great option for three-year-olds because they’ll provide at least an hour of fun, plus they’re really cheap when you buy a multi-pack of them.

Balloons

Balloons are great because they can be bought in packs and distributed out. If you’ve got an animal-themed party, choose animal-shaped or printed balloons, for a fairy party, you could look for fairy balloons.

Photo Frames

Small little photo frames, such as wooden designs, in a similar size to what you get in a Christmas cracker, are another inventive idea to include in a kid’s party bag. Plus, they make a great gift that they’re likely to keep and make use of.

Books

There are plenty of small books you could choose from, that make an entertaining and thoughtful party pack gift. You can buy packs of books relatively cheap and distribute them between the gift bags. Mr Men and Little Miss books are a great size, or you could even just wrap the books individually and hand them out as their own gift.

Playdough

Small tubs of Playdough can certainly be a big hit with three-year-old children and provide them with hours of fun.

Cookie Cutters

Cookie cutters could go great alongside the above mentioned Playdough or could be included on their own to be used for cutting out sandwiches or making cookies at home.

Plant Pots and Seeds

This is a great gift bag idea that could be incorporated into the party too, you could spend some time decorating plant pots whilst in the party, providing paint, glitter and other stick-on items for the children to design their own, then let them take home the pots and provide some seeds for them to plant once they’re home.

Gift Bag Ideas For Children's Parties

Stickers

Stickers are another great option for children’s party bags and go well if you’ve provided an activity book because they’ll have somewhere safe to stick them. Or another idea would be to use a brown paper bag as the gift bag because they can decorate it themselves.

Whistles

Whistles can be a great idea for the kids, but the parents of the children might think otherwise about this gift.

Bookmarks

This is another idea that could be incorporated into the party, with you providing pieces of card that they could decorate themselves for their bedtime storybook.

Temporary Tattoos

Always a big favourite of children is temporary tattoos, these are great for fitting into the theme of the party too.

Slice Of Birthday Cake

You can’t miss out a slice of birthday cake in the party bag too, it’s always welcomed. And if the cake is big enough, you could include an extra slice for the parent who brought or picked up the child.
