Arts & Crafts FAQs

Who uses our arts and crafts supplies?

The Arts and Crafts collection includes bulk wax crayons in standard, JUMBO, and wax resist varieties, crayon-making raw materials (paraffin wax and stearic acid), a red plastic crayon tray, and a pick your own crayon colour option. It's a practical range for schools, craft suppliers, activity providers and anyone making their own wax-based products from scratch.

Can I use paraffin wax and stearic acid to make my own crayons at home?

Both the Paraffin Wax (Kerawax 485) and Stearic Acid (P1800) are sold specifically for crayon making as well as candle and cosmetic production.

The paraffin wax is supplied as high-quality pellets that melt easily and blend well with dyes and other ingredients. Adding stearic acid helps improve the hardness and opacity of the finished crayon. Wax moulds can be used to create custom shapes.

What are wax resist crayons and how are they used in arts and crafts?

Wax resist crayons are clear (colourless) crayons that work as a resist medium. You apply them to paper or card before painting over with watercolour or poster paint - the wax repels the paint, creating a glossy, shimmering effect where the crayon has been applied.

They are particularly popular for children's art activities, school craft sessions and mixed-media projects. Keeko's wax resist crayons are made in the UK, tested to European toy safety standard EN71 parts 1–3, and are available in bulk packs of 120 or 300.

Are arts and crafts products safe for children?

Yes. All Keeko crayons - including the wax resist range - are tested to the European toy safety standard EN71 parts 1–3, certified by Intertek, and are non-toxic and 100% vegan.

The raw crayon making materials (paraffin wax and stearic acid) are intended for adult use in craft or manufacturing contexts; a product material safety data sheet (MSDS) is available on each product page.

What is the red plastic crayon tray used for, and can I order them in bulk?

The red plastic crayon tray is a simple, practical storage and display solution designed to hold loose crayons neatly on a table - ideal for schools, craft rooms, restaurants or any setting where crayons need to be accessible and tidy.

Priced at £1.00 each (ex. VAT), they are a low cost addition to any bulk crayon order. Contact us to discuss volume pricing if you need a larger quantity.
